about

I recorded this demo when I was with The Dandelions. I stole the riff from Stan Webb's Chicken Shack. The lyrics were inspired by a Pre-Raphaelite painting.

lyrics

Darling Josephine

See the sad girl on the stair
She’s like an angel but more fair
But she doesn’t notice me stand there
For she is frozen, unaware

Her hair falls past her shoulders
Shining golden like the setting sun
Her heart is getting colder
She’s waiting for the night to come

Oh my darling Josephine
Well I don’t know what you have seen
But it’s OK the past has been
And things are never what they seem

See the tears fall from her face
It’s like she’s falling out of grace
There is no movement there to trace
But her heart races and her mind keeps pace

She stares into the distance
She wonders what it is that she’s done
She offers no resistance
She’s waiting for the night to come

Oh my darling Josephine
Well I don’t know what you have seen
But it’s OK the past has been
And things are never what they seem

She sees the storm clouds in the skies
In the skies
From the darkness of her eyes
From her eyes
