about

This song was originally called ‘Do It Right’ (included as a bonus track with the album download) written in the year 2000. In that form it didn't get much further than a demo. The Dandelions rehearsed it a few times but it was never part of the live set as I recall. When hearing the song again during the recording of 'By The Banks of the A350' I concluded that it was worth revisiting. I altered the chorus and changed the lyrics entirely. It didn’t end up on the album though as I thought it really needed a horn section and I had no idea how I could achieve that!

lyrics

Come on over, I got something to show you
It's taken me weeks but man it's something else
So what do you say, have I made the grade
I feel at my peak, I did it all by myself

Anyway, you know it doesn't matter
I can say I get a kick from the pain
I'm quite happy in my ivory tower
But I won't be coming down again yeah yeah yeah

E is for envy, baby can't you see
It's a part of me, I'm a green-eyed child
And it's driving me wild

Wait a minute I got something to show you
It didn't take too long and man it's something new
So tell me what do you think, let me know am I on the brink
Don't do me wrong I feel I'm breaking through

Anyway, just forget it
You got some pretty good luck what's that to me
How can you tell me you just don't get it
When it's as plain as ABC D

E is for envy, baby can't you see
It's a part of me, I'm a green-eyed child
And it's driving me wild
