about

I recorded this with the embryonic Dandelions. We didn’t have a lead singer yet so I sung it myself. We wanted to have a female front-person at that time. This was recorded at Jamie’s school in Gloucester. He’d just left but was still friendly with the music teacher and he allowed us to record in the school’s primitive recording suite one half-term.

lyrics

I used to think that I was smart cos I was quite concerned with art
I used to think that I was cool because I never tried at school
But now I think I’m really dumb cos she has got me under her thumb
And I’m not lying

She’s turning me upside down she’s turning me upside down
She’s turning me upside down she’s turning me upside down
She’s turning me upside down she’s turning me upside down

I used to know which way to go but now I’m spinning out of control
I’m so mixed up I can’t think straight, I cannot eat, I’m losing weight
And if she leaves me I will die, well I will almost certainly cry
And I’m not lying

She’s turning me upside down she’s turning me upside down
She’s turning me upside down she’s turning me upside down
She’s turning me upside down she’s turning me upside down

Sometimes I wish we’d never met
What if I go and leave no forwarding address?

She’s turning me upside down she’s turning me upside down
She’s turning me upside down she’s turning me upside down
She’s turning me upside down she’s turning me upside down
